My husband and I found Cocotte under his Mom’s deck on Easter Sunday in Alexandria, Ontario in April 1997.  There was a small litter underneath and this tiny little fur ball came out and wanted to get a glimpse of the sun.  He was only about 3 to 4 weeks old.  We decided to bring him home with us and thus remained with us for 17 1/2 years.

He was not the most affectionate litttle cat when he was young but over the year’s he was more affectionate and appreciated the kisses and the petting we gave him.   He was very verbal and could be loud at times, and he would let you know what he wanted or not – he was not shy for that.  He made me laugh many times and I will cherish those sweet memories.

Cocotte loved to drink water from the bathroom faucet and had mastered that skill very well, his brother Bailey (not related) I just call him his brother would try to immitate him but was not as skilled in that department.  Though it was funny to see them compete.   He loved to play and to sleep next to Bailey and were best of friends.

Cototte missed his brother a lot and became a bit distant when Bailey died.   I know he was lonely as he was not used to being alone, and I felt for him.  Over the year his poor front paws were bothered with arthritis so he had a hard time walking but he was a trooper till the end and still had a great appetite.

How do you say goodbye to someone who has been with you 17 1/2 years, I had three babies Muffin, Bailey and Cocotte.  I lost Muffin in Feb 2004 at 14 1/2 Bailey in October 2013 at almost 16 and now Cocotte.  I feel sad that I am not a Mom anymore and I feel like I lost my babies.  Though I truly hope now that they are all together playing, running and eating as much grass as they want and  happy not to be alone anymore with no more pain and suffering.

I will miss you terribly my beautiful cat and it will be hard not to see you or hear you say good morning when I come downstairs in the morning and when I come home in the afternoon.  Cocotte you will always be in our hearts and out thoughts because you have left your paw prints in our hearts.   Thank you for bringing so much joy to our lives.

Daddy and I love you very much and one day we promise we will come and get you, Bailey and Muffin at the Rainbow Bridge and we will all be together again as a family.

Cocotte passed away at 10:50 a.m and we were both there with him, talking to him, kissing him and softly stroking him till his heart stop beating.   He died very peacefully and with dignity and knowing hopefully that he was deeply loved.
